Overview

Accord is a language learning flashcard app. We take your privacy seriously and collect minimal data.

Data Stored On Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

Subscriptions

Accord offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (Premium Monthly and Premium Annual). Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your account settings on the App Store after purchase.

Analytics Data

We collect anonymous behavioural data to understand learning patterns and improve the app, including:

This data is linked to your anonymous user ID, not your personal identity. It helps us research which types of words are easier to learn and improve the app experience.

Data Stored in the Cloud

When you use the word lookup feature, the following is stored in our database:

This data is not linked to your identity and is used to build a shared dictionary that improves the experience for all users.

Third Party Services

Google AdMob — The app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data. This is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Premium subscribers do not see ads.

PostHog — We use PostHog to collect anonymous analytics about how users interact with the app, such as which features are used, session duration, and subscription status. No personal information is collected. This helps us improve the app experience.

Supabase — We use Supabase to host our shared word dictionary database as described above.

Apple — Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. Apple’s privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.

Your Choices

Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland: Under GDPR, when you first open the app, you’ll be asked to consent to:

You can choose to consent, manage your options, or decline. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised to you, and we will not collect analytics data.

Users in California and other US states: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar state laws, you have the right to opt out of the “sale” or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell your personal information. When you first open the app, you can choose whether to allow the sharing of your data for interest-based ads. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant.

iOS Users: You may be asked to allow tracking via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. This allows us to deliver more relevant ads. You can change this setting at any time in your device’s Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Changing Your Preferences: You can update your privacy choices at any time in the app’s Settings screen under “Privacy Settings.”

Data We Do Not Collect

Children

The app is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
